1929-2001 يافا
باحث ومثقف وأكاديمي وناشط سياسي ، ساهم في إنشاء العديد من المؤسسات في
أمريكا الشمالية و الشرق الأوسط ، وكان من أبرز المدافعين و المتحمسين
للتعليم و الديموقراطية الفلسطينية ، ونشط طوال حياته في الدفاع عن
الديموقراطية وحقوق الإنسان ، ساهم في إنشاء جمعية الطلاب العرب في شبابه ،
وكان ضمن المؤسسين لرابطة خريجي الجامعات العرب الأمريكيين ، و انتخب
عضواً في المجلس الوطني الفلسطيني خلال الفترة 1977 حتى عام 1991 ، تميز
طوال حياته في التعبير عن الحقوق والمطالب الفلسطينية امام المحافل الدولية
المختلفة .
ولد إبراهيم ف مدينة يافا عام 1929 ، وفي عام 1948 أجبر هو
وعائلته على ترك فلسطين لينتهي المطاف به في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية
وحصل على شهادتي البكالوريوس والماجستير من جامعة إلينوي والدكتوراة من
جامعة برينستون عام 1957 ، وقضى بعدها في مصر أربع سنوات للإشراف على
البحوث الاجتماعية التابعة لمنظمة اليونسكو ، وبعد عودته إلى أمريكا
الشمالية درس في كلية سميث وكلية ماكجيل ثم التحق بهيئة التدريس لجامعة
نورث ويست عام 1967 وأشرف على اقسام فيها خلال الفترة 1985-1988، وفي وقت
مبكر من عام 1980 عمل مع اليونسكو في وضع خطة تطويرية تتمثل في إنشاء جامعة
مفتوحة فلسطينية في بيروت غير أن هذا المشروع توقف عام 1982 بسبب الغزو
الصهيوني للبنان ، وأجرى هو وصديقة المقرب إدوارد سعيد لقاءاً مع وزير
الخارجية الامريكي جورج شولتز آنذاك في مارس 1988 بهدف إقناعه بالاعتراف
بمنظمة التحرير الفلسطينية .

العديد من الكتب ومن أهمها إعادة الاكتشاف العربي لأوروبا: دراسة في
المواجهات ال ثقافية (1963)، وتطورمعنى القومية (1963)، وبين العرب
وإسرائيل المواجهة من حزيران 1967: منظور عربي (1970)، وأعيد طبعه الذي
بثلاث لغات؛ تحويل فلسطين (1971) ؛ أنظمة الاستيطان في أفريقيا والعالم
العربي: أوهام البقاء (1974)؛ حقوق الفلسطينيين: تأكيد ورفض (1982)،
والمناظر الطبيعية في فلسطين : ملتبسة الشعر (1999)، وغيرها. وأسس مع
إدوارد سعيد مجلات متعددة التخصصات .
استقال إبراهيم من جامعة نورويست
عام 1992 ، وذهب إلى مدينة رام الله وعمل أستاذاً أكاديمياً للعلوم
السياسية في جامعة بيرزيت ، وساهم في تطوير قسم الدراسات العليا في
الجامعة وإنشاء برنامج الدراسات الدولية ، ووفر العديد من التخصصات
للخريجين خلال الفترة من عام 1995-1997 .
وتولى مركز تطوير المناهج
الدراسية الذي تولى مسئولية إنشاء منهج فلسطيني تعليمي مستقل من الابتدائية
وحتى الثانوية ، وترأس مؤسسة القطان للبحوث التربوية ، ووضع الخطوات
الأولى لإنشاء مكتبة فلسطينية مستقلة ، ومتحف للذاكرة الفلسطينية عبر
العصور المختلفة .
وكان دائم الانتقاد لأسلوب العمل الفلسطيني
البيروقراطي ، و أبرز المعارضين لاتفاق أوسلو ، و لمظاهر الاستبداد بالسلطة
الفلسطينية من بعض مسئوليها ، و استمر في دفاعه عن الديموقراطية و حقوق
الإنسان و الهوية الفلسطينية إلى أن توفاه الله في مدينة رام الله عام 2001

Academic and political activist
1929-2001 Jaffa
Researcher and educator, and academic and political activist,
contributed to the establishment of many institutions in North America
and the Middle East, and was the most prominent advocates and
enthusiasts for education and democratic Palestine, and active
throughout his life in the defense of democracy and human rights, has
contributed to the establishment of Association of Arab students in his
youth, and was among the founders of the Association of Arab-American
university Graduates, and was elected a member of the Palestinian
National Council during the period 1977 to 1991, marked by a lifetime in
the expression and the rights of the Palestinian demands in front of
various international forums.
Abraham was born in the city of Jaffa
in 1929, and in 1948 forced him and his family to leave Palestine to end
up in the United States and earned a bachelor's and master's degrees
from the University of Illinois and doctorate from Princeton University
in 1957, and spent later in Egypt four years to oversee the social
research affiliate UNESCO, and after returning to North America, he
studied at Smith College and the College of McGill and then joined the
faculty of the University of North West in 1967 and oversaw the sections
where during the period 1985-1988, and in the early part of 1980, he
worked with UNESCO to develop a development plan is the establishment of
the University open a Palestinian in Beirut is that this project
stopped in 1982 because of the Zionist invasion of Lebanon, and is
conducted and a close friend of Edward Said, a meeting with Secretary of
State George Shultz then in March 1988 in order to convince him to
recognize the PLO.
Over the course of his life A. Ibrahim Abu-Lughod
many books is the most important re-discovery of the Arab Europe: A
Study in the clashes of culture (1963), and Ttormany nationalism (1963),
and between the Arabs and Israel confrontation of June 1967: Arab
perspective (1970), reprinted which three languages; transformation of
Palestine (1971); settlement systems in Africa and the Arab world: the
illusions of stay (1974); rights of the Palestinians: confirmation and
rejection (1982), and landscapes in Palestine: equivocal Hair (1999),
and others. And founded with Edward Said multidisciplinary journals.
Resigned Ibrahim from the University of Noruizt in 1992, and went to
the city of Ramallah and worked as a professor academic political
science at Birzeit University, and contributed to the development of the
Department of Graduate Studies in the university and the establishment
of a program of international studies, and provided many disciplines for
graduates during the period from 1995 to 1997.
He took the center
of the development of the curriculum, who took responsibility for the
establishment of a Palestinian independent educational curriculum of
primary and even secondary, and presided over the Qattan Foundation for
Educational Research, and the development of the first steps to create
an independent Palestinian library, and a museum of memory across
different eras Palestinian.
The permanent criticism of the method of
work of the Palestinian bureaucracy, and the most prominent opponents
of the Oslo Accords, and the manifestations of tyranny, the Palestinian
Authority of some of its officials, and continued in defense of
democracy and human rights and Palestinian identity that he passed away
in the city of Ramallah in 2001
